This Cat was Pregnant and Living in Terrible Conditions - Until Now

cat

Woodlands Animal Sanctuary has already welcomed its first rescue of 2026, are caring for orphaned, hand-reared kittens, & have their first pregnant cat just weeks from giving birth.

This cat was rescued from a hoarder house situation, along with over 50 other cats and dogs.  "These cats desperately needed our help," said Lynn, Woodlands Animal Care Manager. "The pregnant mum and her companions were living in terrible conditions. Thanks to our dedicated team and supporters, they're now receiving the care they need to be able to rehome them then the time is right."

The rescue comes as the local animal charity prepares for another busy year of animal welfare, rescue, and community education.

Upcoming Events for Supporters

The sanctuary has launched its 2026 event calendar, offering multiple ways for the community to get involved:

  • Tea & Tours Experience – Every Saturday in January. Join guided tours of the sanctuary while enjoying refreshments and meeting the animals.

  • Quiz Night – Saturday, 7th March at Tarleton Bowling Club. A fun-filled evening of trivia to raise vital funds.

Volunteer Response Exceeds Expectations

Following a volunteer open day earlier this month, the sanctuary welcomed numerous new volunteers eager to donate their time and skills. The team is now working to onboard the new recruits across various roles, from animal care to fundraising support.

Rising Costs Drive Fundraising Push

With no sign of expenses dropping, Woodlands Animal Sanctuary faces ongoing financial pressure to meet the rising demand for its services. The sanctuary's winter appeals remain active, offering supporters several ways to help:

  • Gift a meal to a cat in care

  • Buy a bale of hay for stable animals

  • Sponsor an animal and receive year-round updates

"Even simple actions like sharing our social media posts help us reach more potential adopters and supporters," added Lynn. "Every bit of support makes a difference to the animals in our care."
