Thousands of racegoers enjoy first day of Grand National Festival 2024

Police would like to thank the thousands of racegoers who attended the first day of this year’s Randox Grand National Festival 2024.

Our officers were on the course and surrounding area to help keep everyone safe. There were no arrests.

Superintendent Matthew Moscrop said: “Today marked the start of this year’s festival and it was great to see everyone enjoying themselves responsibly.

“I would like to thank everyone who attended for making it a successful first day and a really good atmosphere. .

“We are expecting many more racegoers to attend Ladies Day tomorrow, so I would like to remind people attending to give yourself extra time to get to the course and enjoy your day.

“My officers will be in and around the course and I would encourage everyone to speak to them if they have any concerns or issues."
