Three arrested in Southport after Rufford Road shop robbery
Police have arrested three males after a report of robbery in Southport on Friday night (5 November).
Just before 9.25pm, officers were called to Freshways shop on Rufford Road to reports a male member of staff had been threatened by two males inside the shop, with one holding a knife. The offenders made off with cash and cigarettes.
The victim was not injured during the incident.
Officers attended and, assisted by the National Police Air Service helicopter, located three males who were detained near the scene.
Three teenage males have been arrested on suspicion of robbery offences and taken into custody to be questioned.
CCTV, house to house and forensic enquiries are ongoing.
Detective Inspector Nick Suffield said: “This would have been a shocking incident for the victim, and while he was physically unharmed he has understandably been left shaken by the experience.
“It is completely unacceptable to target people working and trying to earn an honest living in the heart of our communities in Merseyside.
“Officers attended and have made three swift arrests, but we are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed any part of this incident. Your description, CCTV or dashcam could be vital in piecing together the circumstances.”
