Traffic chaos in Southport as Marine Drive closed for speed event

There is traffic chaos in Southport today Saturday as the Marine Drive is closed from Weld Road to Fairways in both directions. The Southport Classic and Speed event is being held. As drivers attempt to get over the Marine Way Bridge, Ocean Plaza is clogged with traffic.

Traffic is backed up to Pleasureland along the Promenade. Drivers are diverting onto Lord Street which is also extremely busy.

Marine Drive opens again at 6.00pm
