Tragedy as elderly couple in Southport have car stolen and their son passes away two days later

appeal

Two cars were stolen in Southport on the evening of Friday 9th December.

A Range Rover was stolen from Alma Road between 4:00pm – 6:00pm and a Ford Fiesta was stolen from Lynton Road a short time later, possibly between 7:00 – 7:30pm. Officers on patrol in Southport began an immediate search for both cars. House to house and CCTV enquiries are ongoing.

We are appealing for information which may help us locate both cars, but the victims of the Fiesta theft are suffering more than most.

The Ford Fiesta is the only transport of an elderly couple in their 80’s, one of whom is terminally ill. Medication to treat the condition was in the car when it was stolen. In addition, we have today learned that the son of the elderly male victim of this car theft died earlier today, Sunday 11th.

The theft of a car for anyone at any time can have a huge impact. For this family, at this time, the impact could be devastating.

We are therefore appealing to anyone who has information on the whereabouts of this car, a silver FORD FIESTA TITANIUM with a registration number of MD64LCL. Tell us where it is and we will recover it and get it back to this family in an attempt to reduce the trauma they are currently going through.
