Trains cancelled after barrier damage between Southport and Birkdale-Updated

Due to barrier damage between Southport and Birkdale:  The 0547 service from Southport to Hunts Cross is currently cancelled.  The 0607 Southport to Hunts Cross is also cancelled.

One customer Lee was not happy...

Not exactly on top at telling people that they are cancelled before sitting on the train. I was on the 0607 train for 10 mins before being told it's cancelled seeing as the early train was off as well. Surely a steward could let you know before buying a ticket

Merseyrail apologised

Apologies for this Lee, services have been disrupted due to wind damage to the crossing barriers this morning. Every effort has been made to rectify the problem as quickly as possible, but this did take longer than anticipated.

Services on the Southport line are about to resume following an earlier barrier fault.  The first service to depart Southport will be the 0627, running approximately 10 minutes late.
