Southport trains disrupted by Northern line signalling problems until 5pm
Train services to and from Southport may be cancelled or delayed on Monday, October 26, because of signalling problems at Sandhills.
Merseyrail says the Northern line is disrupted, and the issue is expected to continue until 5pm. Passengers travelling between Southport and Liverpool are advised to check the live departure board before setting off.
The disruption is also affecting services on the Ormskirk and Headbolt Lane routes. Some trains are starting or terminating at Sandhills while the signalling problem is dealt with.
Separate engineering work is affecting parts of the Northern line between October 11 and November 6, 2026. Merseyrail says services are due to return to normal on Saturday, November 7.
