Travel Chaos: Southport and Wigan Rail Line Blocked Due to Flooding

Flooding between Wigan Wallgate and Southport means all lines are blocked. As a result, trains between these stations ma be cancelled, delayed or revised to start / terminate from Wigan Wallgate. All stations between Wigan Wallgate and Southport will not be served.

Disruption is expected until 18:30.

Customer advice:

You may use your ticket onboard Merseyrail services between Liverpool Lime Street and Southport at no extra cost. Onward connections can be made from Liverpool Lime Street to Wigan North Western.

Rail replacement transport will operate as follows:

Wigan Wallgate at 17:00 calling Gathurst, Appley Bridge, Parbold, Burscough Bridge, Meols Cop and Southport
Southport at 17:30 calling Meols Cop, Burscough Bridge, Parbold, Appley Bridge, Gathurst and Wigan Wallgate

Journey times will be extended by up to 60 minutes when using road replacement transport.
