Man rushed to hospital after being stabbed in Royal Terrace in Southport

Police were called to Royal Terrace in Southport just after 9.00pm last night (7th April) after reports of a man suffering from stab wounds.

The man had been stabbed in the arm and back and he was rushed to hospital for treatment. His injuries are not thought to be serious

A cordon was put in place as Police investigated the attack.

PCSO's from the Neighbourhood team at Southport police station are managing a crime scene at Royal Terrace this morning. 

This follows an incident at around 9:00pm last night where an altercation between two men known to each other took place. During this one of the men received stab injuries to his back and arm. The man has been treated for his injuries which are serious, but not life threatening.

A 37 year old man has  been arrested on suspicion of the attack.

The scene is likely to remain ongoing for some time as investigations continue.
