Two 15 year old boys arrested for drug dealing in Southport town centre
North Sefton Neighbourhood Team at Southport Police Station, on day 2 of ‘NEIGHBOURHOOD POLICING WEEK’.
Yesterday we had uniformed officers out on solo foot patrol in Norwood, Kew, Dukes (Southport Town Centre) and Formby, as well as officers out in plain clothes in Southport town centre. We also had one officer out on solo cycle patrol in Cambridge and Meols wards.
We started the day by one of our PCSO’s taking over management of a crime scene in the town centre. During the foot patrols and reassurance visits made to local businesses and worship groups, PCSO’s viewed CCTV of an offence of criminal damage at Botanic Gardens and of a prolific shoplifter in the town centre, and one of our PCSO’s was first on scene at a three vehicle collision that occurred on Marine Drive.
From these patrols and engagement with the public, two intelligence reports were submitted regarding drug dealing and a third was submitted regarding illegal use of an off-road electric bike.
Two 15 year old boys were arrested by Neighbourhood Police Officers on suspicion of supplying cannabis in the town centre, after being witnessed involved in a drug deal and found in possession of cannabis. Scales and a mobile phone used for dealing were found in a search of one of the boys. His electric scooter was seized, and a search of home address located more cannabis. Investigations continue into this being part of ‘county lines’ supply.
Following intelligence submissions by Neighbourhood PCSO’s the County Lines Team arrested two men on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class ‘A’ drugs, after finding them in possession of 22 wraps of cocaine, over £1000 in cash and two mobile phones believed to be used for drug dealing purposes. Both are still in custody at the time of writing, with more investigations to be made. This is a good example of how the different strands of Merseyside Police work together, with Neighbourhood at the heart of getting information and developing this into actionable intelligence.
A 38 year old man was also arrested on suspicion of possession to supply class ‘A’ drugs after being see to discard 48 wraps of class ‘A’ drugs and attempting to make off from officers from the County Lines Team. Several intelligence reports have previously been submitted by the Neighbourhood team regarding this individual.
And finally, Neighbourhood police officers conducted knife crime presentations at Stanley High School yesterday, as part of our ongoing programme to try and reduce knife crime issues.
Today, we start again and see what will develop. Watch this space and @MerpolNTHsefton for updates.
