Two arrested after Police stop vehicle on Sussex Road in Southport

On the afternoon of Thursday 5th January, Southport Neighbourhood Police Officers stopped a Silver Vauxhall Astra, seen in suspicious circumstances on Sussex Road. Two men were detained at this location and the car was searched.


The driver was arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis and drug drive after failing a roadside drugs test and testing positive for cannabis. He was also arrested on suspicion of driving without insurance and latterly arrested for concern in the supply of class 'A' drugs.


The passenger was taken to Southport Police Station to be searched. During the search a golf ball sized bag of white and brown wraps, £80 cash, and a mobile phone were found. The golf ball size bag made up of 52 Brown Wraps believed to be heroin and 31 white believed to be crack cocaine.


Further searches of properties took place and subsequently, both men, Adam Beesley (29) from Skelmersdale and Shaun Forshaw (33) from Parbold have been charged with Possession with intent to supply class 'A' cocaine, class 'A' heroin and class 'B' cannabis.
The car was seized.
Other offences remain under investigation.
