Two horses rescued from mud by LFRS in Halsall near Southport in night time operation

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service spent over five hours rescuing two horses stuck in mud in Hallsall near Southport on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. Firefighters from Ormskirk ,Preston and Lancaster attended the incident.

A spokesperson for LFRS commented...

"We were called on Tuesday night at 23.52 to Halsall to reports of a horse in a ditch at the side of the road stuck in mud.

One horse was freed at 00.55am and the other was still stuck.

"The vet was called to help to discuss sedation to help rescue it.

"By 4.15am we had got an aerial latter platform and attached something to it to lift the horse out of the mud.

"It was put back in the field by 4.37am."
