Unprecedented Multi-Agency Search for Lost Teen Successfully Concludes

life

Our crew was tasked to join a large-scale multi agency search for a missing teenager at Ainsdale.
Initially, our quads were paged to conduct a shoreline and dune search from Ainsdale, down to Freshfield, and along Fisherman’s Path to Ainsdale Nature Reserve.

Our UAS team deployed and flew over the dunes between Pontins and the railway track, helping the police and three coastguard rescue teams cover an expansive area of dunes and woodland.
As the size of the search expanded, Lowland Search and Rescue Teams from Merseyside and Cheshire

joined the search, alongside our own crew who had formed a foot team. Helicopters from NPAS (police) and the coastguard were also rotated into the search throughout the afternoon and early evening.

At 20:55, our lifeboat was tasked in anticipation of the flooding tide to sweep the tideline between Formby and Ainsdale, and were joined by Lytham St. Anne’s Lifeboat, who searched between Ainsdale and Birkdale.

At approximately 22:30, following nearly 10 hours of searching, the casualty was located by the NPAS helicopter and brought to safety.
Well done to all organisations involved in this multi-agency search.
