Catch classic films celebrating big anniversaries at Vue Southport this autumn
A selection of beloved films celebrating major milestones is returning to the big screen at Vue Southport this autumn.
Kicking off the season from 11 September is the very first outing of everyone’s favourite rogue archaeologist, Indiana Jones, in Raiders of the Lost Ark, which celebrates its 45th anniversary. Watch Harrison Ford in a career-defining role as Indy, who dodges booby-traps, fights Nazis and stares down snakes in this epic adventure.
Also returning to the big screen from 11 September is The Transformers: The Movie, celebrating 40 years since it rolled into theatres and changed the franchise forever. Featuring an iconic voice cast, next-level animation and an unforgettable soundtrack, the film is a must-see for fans of the franchise – make sure to stay through the credits, because as this journey ends, a new one begins.
For fans of horror, The Others returns to terrify audiences from 16 October, marking its 25th anniversary this year. Starring Nicole Kidman, this chilling classic is packed with creeping tension, eerie encounters and one of cinema’s most memorable twists.
Other spooky titles casting their spell include cult favourite The Craft, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year and returns from 16 October, and iconic slasher Scream, which marks 30 years of scares ahead of its return from 23 October.
In the thriller department, fans can revisit an early incarnation of Hannibal Lecter in Manhunter, which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year and returns to the big screen from 25 September. Based on Thomas Harris’ novel Red Dragon, this gripping thriller introduced audiences to one of cinema’s most iconic villains.
The season also brings back cinematic favourites celebrating major milestones, including Daniel Craig’s Casino Royale and Guillermo del Toro’s Pan’s Labyrinth, both marking their 20th anniversaries this year and returning to the big screen from October.
