Red Devils parachute team to make Southport Flower Show debut
The Red Devils Parachute Display Team will land at Southport Flower Show on Thursday 20 August, with a display planned for midday on the opening day.
The British Army’s official parachute display team will descend into Victoria Park, weather permitting, and land in a designated area next to the showground. Members of the team will then stay for about two hours so visitors can meet the parachutists, ask questions and take photographs.
Gates open at 10am, and organisers are encouraging visitors to arrive early for a good view of the display.
Alan Adams, general manager of Southport Flower Show, said: “We are thrilled to welcome the Red Devils to this year’s Southport Flower Show. Their aerial display will be a fantastic spectacle and an exciting addition to our entertainment programme.
“Scheduling the display at midday means even more visitors will be able to enjoy this incredible experience, and we’re looking forward to welcoming families and aviation enthusiasts alike to witness one of the UK’s premier parachute display teams in action.”
The Red Devils were established in 1964 and have represented the British Army at public events in the UK and overseas. The team is known for formation jumps and precision displays.
Southport Flower Show runs from Thursday 20 to Sunday 23 August at the 34-acre Victoria Park. Opening hours are 10am to 6pm from Thursday to Saturday, and 10am to 5pm on Sunday. Organisers expect more than 50,000 visitors across the four days.
The show will also feature the LFC Foundation, which is bringing photo opportunities with the UEFA Champions League trophy, an 8ft floral display, sporting activities and giveaways.
Other announced guests include Anton Du Beke, Iolo Williams, Megan McCubbin, Su Pollard, Rob Rinder and Mr Motivator, alongside garden experts, chefs and children’s entertainers. The programme includes garden and cookery theatres, live music, an outdoor arena, a children’s trail and the new Lakeside Reset wellbeing zone.
Early bird tickets are available until Wednesday 19 August. Tickets can be used on any one of the four show days, and children under 16 enter free with a paying adult.
