Wickets tumble in Lancashire Second XI clash at Southport
Seventeen wickets fell on day two of the Second XI encounter versus Durham at Southport and Birkdale CC setting up a low scoring thriller.
Lancashire finished the second day on 78-6 with a lead of 170 which will see Kurt Watson (15*) and Harry Singh (10*) resume on day three.
This was after Harvey Walker recorded figures of 4-19 well supported by Jack Morley (3-20) as Durham were bowled out for 97 in just 43.3 overs.
At one point Durham were 0-3 as Walker along with Luke Young (2-31) ripped through the Durham top order dismissing Crawshaw, McKinney and Crawley all without scoring.
Sol Bell top scored with 31 while Liam Doneathy added 17 and Stuart Poynter (15) as Lancashire took a 92 run lead into the second innings.
Likewise to the Durham innings, wickets continued to regularly fall in Lancashire’s innings as the hosts were reduced to 51-6 with Drissell (2-15), Campbell (2-18) and Salisbury (2-22) taking two wickets a piece.
Some gritty batting from Singh and Watson closed the day out as the pair scored 27 runs in 21 overs finishing on 78-6.
