Witness appeal after serious collision in Rufford near Southport

Did you witness a collision in Rufford on Friday, January 7? Police are appealing for information after an elderly woman was seriously injured.

Police were called around 12.45pm to a report of a two vehicle collision on Liverpool Road.

A Citroen C1 and Vauxhall Crossland were involved in a collision at the junction with Croston Road.

The driver of the Citroen, a woman in her 80s from Croston, suffered serious injuries to her pelvis and ribs, as well as internal injuries. She was taken to Royal Preston Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Vauxhall, a woman in her 30s from Tarleton, suffered bruising.

Police are appealing for information and are keen to trace a local post office worker, who is believed to have witnessed the collision, but left the scene before officers arrived.

Sgt Steve Hardman, of Lancashire Police’s serious collision investigation unit, said: “We are appealing for witnesses to a serious collision in Rufford today.

“I would encourage anyone who saw what happened to please make contact with us as soon as possible.

“We believe a post office work witnessed the collision – if that was you, please get in touch.

“We would also ask anyone with dashboard mounted camera footage which may have covered the collision to come forward.”
