Woman arrested on Lord Street Southport after failing roadside drugs test
Yesterday evening (Thursday 12th) Police Officers from the Neighbourhood team based at Southport police station arrested a 43 year old woman on suspicion of the supply of class ‘A’ drugs.
The woman was stopped on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol and having no insurance. She failed a roadside drug procedure. A suspected wrap of class ‘A’ drugs was found in the footwell of the car, which led to a further search of the car and of the female. In total, 26 wraps of drugs were found.
The woman remains in custody while investigations continue.
In addition to the above, while on patrol in the town centre in response to complaints of anti-social behaviour, a 23 year old man from Bootle was arrested after being found in possession of cannabis and a 17 year old girl from Southport was arrested for a homophobic public order offence, around the area of the Marine Lake.
Investigations into the assault of a 16 year old girl in Southport town centre a few weeks ago are continuing. An update will be provided as soon as is possible. In the meantime, patrols of Southport town centre and the surrounding area continue, with a focus on those responsible for antisocial behaviour.
