Woman sadly dies after Burnley Road Southport incident

Police statement on Burnley Road incident.

Emergency services were in attendance in Southport following a fatal collision yesterday afternoon (Thursday 23 September).

At around 3.10pm we received a report that a blue Honda Jazz was in collision with a parked vehicle on Burnley Road.

The driver, female in her 80s, is believed to have suffered a medical episode at the wheel.

She was taken to hospital in a critical condition but has since sadly passed away.

Her next of kin have been informed.

Road closures were in place on Burley Road and have since been lifted.
