Woman sexually assaulted on train between Freshfield and Southport

Officers investigating a sexual assault on a train between Freshfield and Southport station are today releasing CCTV images in connection.

At around 10.45am on Sunday 27 March, a woman waiting on the platform at Freshfield station was approached by a man who engaged her in a conversation and began to make inappropriate sexual comments towards her.

The woman boarded a train and the man followed her. During the journey he continued to make sexual comments towards her and sexually assaulted her before they both got off the train at Southport station.

Officers believe the man in the CCTV images may have information which could help their investigation.
