Work begins on new Sainsbury's supermarket at Meols Cop in Southport

Work has finally begun to convert the old Homebase store into a Sainsbury's Supermarket at Meols Cop. The car park has been blocked off with large concrete blocks as builders get to work.

Years of legal wrangling are finally over after protests by local and Councillors.

The store will be open in early 2023.
