Work has started on Southport Merseyrail improvements

Work has started this morning on the improvements to the Merseyrail line in Southport. Trains will not run Between Southport and Formby for 10 days. A replacement bus service is in operation.

Due to track renewal work the Southport line will be disrupted from Saturday 5 to Monday 14 October 2024. 

Rail replacement buses will operate between Southport and Formby, calling at all stations. Trains will be running between Formby and Liverpool Central.

Journey times will be extended during the works, customers are advised to allow additional time for their journeys.

A normal timetable will be in operation from the start of service on Tuesday 15 October.
