Youths causing distress to elderly residents by throwing eggs in West Lancs

Police have been called to several reports recently of groups of youths throwing eggs at properties, causing distress to the homeowners, some of whom are elderly.  

We have visited the local shops to make them aware of the issues and have asked them to refuse to sell eggs to youths.

Can we ask parents of teenagers to please make sure that they are not taking eggs out of the house.

This may sound like mischief, but it makes a mess on the properties and can be frightening if the residents live alone.

This has also caused financial distress to some elderly residents who have had to pay for the eggs to be cleaned off their properties.

Eggs have also been thrown at moving vehicles which is dangerous and could cause an accident.
