20 More Protestors Charged Following Grand National Disruptions

Police can confirm a further 20 people have been charged following protests on the same day as the Grand National 2023.

Previously 10 people had been charged in connection with protests on roads near Aintree Racecourse where a number of people had blocked access for vehicles near junction 2 of the M57 at around 5.15pm on Saturday 15 April.

The protest, and another reported on Wango Lane when people attempted to block the road, led to significant traffic delays in the area.

A number of protestors also entered or attempted to enter the Racecourse itself, forcing the delay of the start of the Grand National.

Following an ongoing investigation into their activity, we can confirm the following 20 people have been charged with intentionally/recklessly causing a public nuisance are:

• Sarah Foy, 24 years, of North Street, South Normanton, Derbyshire
• Louise Firth, 53 years, of Princess Road, Manchester
• Veronica Wignall, 32 years, of Park Crescent, Whitehall, Bristol
• Rebecca Tolley, 23 years, of East End Road, Finchley, North London
• Laura Sharples, 25 years, of Princess Road, Manchester
• Yasmin Lovell, 33 years, of Beverley Close, Swansea
• Barry Jackson, 56 years, of Greenaway Close, Blisworth, Northampton
• Emma Harding, 46 years, of Dongola Road, Bristol
• Rayner Jordan, 30 years, of Princess Road, Manchester
• Bernadette Green, 55 years, of Drove Road, Biggleswade, Bedfordshire

All the above have been bailed to appear at Sefton Magistrates Court on 14 August.

• Anton Gijsen, 37 years, of Sydenham Hill, South East London
• Jenny Elliott, 48 years, of Trinity Road, Oxford
• Victoria Louise Jepson, 58 years, of Princess Road, Manchester
• Kim Wainwright, 51 years, of Princess Road, Manchester
• Ricky Frazer Southall, 32 years, of Princess Road, Manchester
• Ruby Sleigh, 32 years, of Beresford Road, North London
• Amy Robinson, 55 years, of Marshland, Barton-upon-Humber
• Adam Thompson, 36 years, of Holly Drive, Lutterworth, Leicestershire

All the above have been bailed to appear at Sefton Magistrates Court on 28 August.

The new charges bring the total charged in connection with protests on the day to 30.
