The victim suffered serious facial injuries which required hospital treatment, and he is still recovering from his injuries.

CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing to identify the suspect responsible, and detectives have issued images of a man they believe could assist with their investigation.

Detective Inspector Samantha Davies said: “This was a dangerous and reckless attack that has left the victim seriously injured where he is still recovering from the attack.

“This incident took place at a time when there would have been busy with people out at celebrating in the lead up to Christmas, so if you were in the vicinity and saw the assault take place then please contact us.

“We are taking this incident extremely seriously and I am appealing to the man featured in this image, or anyone who recognises him to come forward. We believe he could hold information that could be vital to our continuing enquiries.”
