01 CrimeSouthport man charged with theft from Sainsbury’s at Meols Cop
Luke Jackson, 28, of Eaton Drive, Southport, has been charged with theft from a shop following a reported incident at Sainsbury’s, Meols Cop Retail Park, on 3 September. He was arrested on 16 September and remanded to appear at Wirral Magistrates’ Court. Police say retail theft reports have fallen 32%.

02 TransportAutumn timetable changes announced for Southport and Chester lines
Minor autumn timetable changes will affect the Southport, Chester and Ellesmere Port lines as trains may run more slowly because of slippery leaf fall. From 7 November, Southport Line departures towards Sandhills may be up to three minutes earlier, while Liverpool-bound arrivals may be up to three minutes later.

03 What's OnBritish Musical Fireworks Championship returns to Southport on 26 and 27 September
The British Musical Fireworks Championship returns to Victoria Park on 26 and 27 September, with six teams competing over two evenings from 5.30pm to 9.30pm. Tickets must be booked in advance, including free tickets for under-fives. A special Merseyrail return fare is available for selected events.

04 TransportMerseyrail bans e-bikes across its network over fire safety concerns
Merseyrail has prohibited e-bikes across its network because lithium-ion battery fires can develop quickly and produce intense heat, smoke and toxic gases. The operator says enclosed spaces such as trains, tunnels and underground stations create particular risks, while promising further discussions with cycling representatives about the decision.
