Detectives appeal for information following attempted burglary in Southport

Detectives are investigating following an attempted burglary in Southport in the early hours of this morning, Thursday 15 July.

At around 4.50am, officers were called to Farmfoods on Lord Street to reports of three males attempting to break in.

They were reported to have driven off towards the fire station. Nothing was stolen but a safe was recovered nearby. A suspected stolen white BMW was also recovered in Sandbrook Way. Forensic, CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing at the location.

Detective Chief Inspector Gayle Rooney said: "Our enquiries are ongoing and I'd ask anyone who saw this incident, saw the vehicle in the area or has captured anything on CCTV or other devices to come forward.

"Although nothing is believed to have been taken, the inconvenience and stress caused to a local business is still significant, and we're determined to find those responsible and put them before the courts."
