24-year-old rider dies following Queensway Tunnel crash
Police can confirm a man who was injured during a serious road traffic collision inside the Queensway Tunnel on Tuesday 11 August has passed away.
We were contacted at just before 1.05pm following reports of a one vehicle collision involving a Sur-ron bike on the Birkenhead to Liverpool carriageway.
The collision occurred approximately two thirds of the way through the tunnel towards the Liverpool end.
The rider of the bike, 24-year-old Korben Bell, who lived in the Cheshire area, died in hospital yesterday, Wednesday 12 August.
An investigation into the collision remains ongoing.
Detective Sergeant Kurt Timpson, the Lead Investigating Officer from the Merseyside Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the family who at this time are being supported by specially trained officers.
“Our enquiries into the collision remain ongoing and we are continuing to appeal to anyone who saw the bike in the tunnel or witnessed the collision and has not yet come forward to do so.”
