Final Merseyside Derby at Goodison Park Concludes Without Major Incidents

Police would like to thank football fans who attended the final Merseyside derby game at Goodison Park yesterday evening, Wednesday 12 February.
More than 40,000 football fans attended the match between Everton and Liverpool football clubs at the historic stadium.
As with all major events, police officers were on patrol in the surrounding area to ensure everyone attending the game were kept safe and enjoyed the watching the derby match for the final time at the Grand Old Lady.
The evening passed without major incident with only a very small number of arrests (eight) inside and outside the ground for various offences.
Chief Superintendent Claire Doyle in charge of the policing operation for the match, said: "It was a great atmosphere last night with high emotions on both sides and fans enjoyed themselves responsibly, seeing the Grand Old Lady off in style.
“I would like to thank everyone for enjoying the evening safely, as there were very little incidents to note with the vast majority of football fans enjoying the game without causing any disruption.”
