Great British Bake Off Winner Candice Brown to Cook Live at Southport Flower Show
Great British Bake Off to join this year’s celebrity chef line-up
We are delighted to announce that Candice Brown will be at this year’s show on Saturday 22ndAugust.
Candice is the proud owner, chef and landlady of The Green Man in Eversholt, and co-owner and chef of the recently opened Margo's, a deli and restaurant in Woburn - both ventures run alongside her brother Ben.
Candice was born in North London and grew up in the pubs that her parents ran – and that she famously immortalised in gingerbread for her most talked about showstopper. Taught to bake by her beloved Nan, Candice strives to emulate her style, often referring back to her treasured recipe book and hand-written notes. Candice loves everything vintage and her sense of style certainly captured Great British Bake Off viewers’ attention.
In her life before Bake Off, Candice was a secondary school teacher with a particular responsibility for the pastoral care and SEN provision within the school.
Life changed immeasurably for Candice following her victory on Bake Off with the recognition that she gained on the show giving her the opportunity to explore new and exciting avenues in food. In the years since the show she spent six years as a columnist for The Sunday Times, writing in the magazine and The Dish, has baked on This Morning and Ainsley's World Cup Flavours and has appeared as a panellist on Loose Women.
She has worked with a vast array of brands on PR and social media campaigns including Breville, Gozney, Canderel, Holland and Barrett, and Now TV. She has been featured in Hello and OK! magazine and has been an ambassador for Avon Cosmetics. She is also a regular at food festivals making frequent appearances at Pub in the Park, CarFest and The Big Feastival.
Candice’s food is delicious, simple, seasonal fare which she showcases in her cookbooks Comfort, released in 2017 and Happy Cooking, released in 2021. The recipes are easy to make and "no nonsense" for a variety of occasions, including baking with kids, birthday parties for all ages, Christmas, afternoon tea, quick savoury bakes for weeknights and "fancier" recipes for the weekend.
During her spare time, you can find Candice walking her beloved dogs Severus, Albus and Sybil, in the stands at Tottenham or the rugby with her dad or trekking both in the UK and abroad on behalf of CoppaFeel.
