Hereford v Southport Match Preview

Southport take to the road on Saturday with a trip to Hereford kick off 3pm.

Both sides suffered defeats on Tuesday and will be looking to bounce back. Hereford went down 3-0 at the much improved Curzon Ashton whilst we of course lost our unbeaten home record to a very impressive Blyth Spartans side who belied their lowly position and were worthy winners.

Tyler Walton was laid low with illness and missing other players through injury Southport struggled on the night. Liam said after the game that some of the injuries are starting to clear and that will be music to all Southport fans ears as we enter the final 15 games of the season.

There have been some interesting games between the two sides down the years with the sides facing each other twice as Football League sides, the first occasion being in our 1972/73 promotion season when over 10000 saw a brilliant 2-2 draw on Boxing Day. The Southport scorers that day were Jim Fryatt and Norrie Lloyd.
