Councillors from Southport's Norwood Ward fund Christmas Tree in Bispham Road

Cllr Greg Myers commented...

Fantastic to see our Christmas Tree going up on Bispham Road in preparation for our lights switch on event next Friday.

The tree and lights have been funded by Norwood’s councillors, Mhairi Doyle, Carran Waterfield and myself from our ward funds.

The fencing and switch on event organisation being taken care of by High Park: Think Family, Think Community Project who we work with a lot and who have done a great job, as ever - thanks to Joe McNulty and Catrin Hughes.

The fencing itself has been constructed and installed by the same team who did our planters... Green Sefton’s wonderful Natural Alternatives crew who are a Sefton Council scheme.

Thanks also to the council officers who helped arrange the tree’s installation and Trish Hardy for helping us sort this.

The tree is an important part of our project to bring some much needed TLC to Bispham Road and create more of a village feel and community spirit.

Judging by the brilliant reaction to it today from local residents, I’m very proud to be leading on the plan and our residents are delighted with it.

Come along if you can next Friday for carol singers, the wonderful Salvation Army band, craft stalls and more... the event starts from 5pm, with the switch on itself from 6pm.
