Man charged after West Street in Southport robbery

A man has been charged in connection with a robbery in Southport last week when three people were targeted.

At around 10.30pm on Monday 2 May, it was reported two men, aged 18 and 19, and a 17-year-old female were approached by two male offenders on West Street, Southport.

One of the offenders was holding a Stanley knife, and the pair demanded a mobile phone before taking a coat and bank card belonging to one of the victims.

Officers attended and a blade was recovered for forensic examination.

Following enquiries, Lewis King, 18 years, of Waterside, Netherton was arrested and has since been charged with two counts of robbery, one of attempted robbery and one of possession of a bladed article in a public place.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Liverpool Magistrates Court.
