Mountain bike stolen from shed in Southport

Police are aware of one shed burglary that took place overnight Friday night in Southport. A green GIANT XTC mountain bike (pictured) was stolen from the shed. If you believe you have information that may help the investigation of this burglary, please contact  via the methods shown quoting crime reference 21000549847.

Police have been out speaking to residents in the area and have conducted a letter-drop in the immediate vicinity, appealing for witnesses or CCTV to assist the investigation. 

If you live in the Chester Road/Gosforth Road/Bengarth Road area, please check sheds/garages to ensure that you have not been victims of a  similar crime. If you believe you have, please report it via the methods shown. 

Recent investigations have shown  that these offenders often go through a number of gardens in an area, just looking for the sort of property they want to steal. This is mainly bikes, but can also be tools and/or garden equipment. 

Police  strongly advise residents to add shed alarms, so that you are alerted to someone on your property during the night and are able to dial 999 for an emergency response. As things stand, this kind of burglary is often reported 12, 24 or 36 hours after the event, when the offenders are long gone.
