Player Reunion & Hall Of Fame Saturday at Southport FC

Starting with our centenary year in 1981 we have been able to hold a grand former player reunion event every 10 years, and we are delighted that following the lifting of coronavirus restrictions, and thanks to the generous support of Dave Barron and the team at Barron Financial Solutions, we are able to do the same this year, the fifth such event we have been able to host.

The evening will also include the second Hall of Fame induction ceremony at the club. Induction into a club’s Hall of Fame is the highest honour we believe any football club can pay to its former players. To qualify for induction, each inductee must have made an outstanding contribution to the development, and/or success, and/or history of the football club and/or its community. Inductees can have made that contribution as a player, manager, coach, official, employee, director, supporter or volunteer.

All 10 of this year’s inductees have been chosen by a selection panel chosen by the Former Players Association committee, including representatives of supporter groups, historians, statisticians and club officials.

Steve Dickinson – Supporters Player of the year 2001/02 & 2005/06, Players Player of the year 2001/02

James ‘Jimmy’ Fay –  Southport’s first Football League captain, and founding member and secretary of the Professional Players Union (now the PFA!)

Kevin Mooney – Captain of the 1992/93 Title winning squad, Supporters and Players Player of the Year 1992/93.

Kevin Lee – Title winner 2009/10 – Supporters Player of the year 2007/08

Billy Semple – Over 50 years service to the club as first a player, and later trainer.

Paul Evans – Supporters Player of the Year 1982/83 & 1985/86, Players Player of the year 1987/88

Archie Waterston – Pre-war goalscoring legend and scorer of the most football league goals in a single season

Reg Blore – 60s goalscorer that became the first Southport player to gain Under-23 honours.

George Bromilow – represented Great Britain in the 1956 Olympic games in Melbourne and capped by the full England amateur side.

Colin Alty – Southport’s most versatile performer, our first ever Supporter’s Player of the Year in 1967, FA Cup giantkiller and key member of the promotion squad of 66/67 with well over 200 appearances.

The reunion and Hall of Fame Induction ceremony is to be held at the 1881 Lounge, formerly the Grandstand Bar, at Haig Avenue, on the evening of Saturday 13th November.

A limited number of tickets will be made available for supporters to purchase.
