Rosie Cooper MP encourages residents to sign up to host Macmillan coffee morning

West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper is encouraging residents to sign up now to host a Macmillan Coffee Morning this September.

This year the official date is 24 September but events can be held at any time.

The first ever Coffee Morning happened way back in 1990. It was a rather small affair with a simple idea: guests would gather over coffee and donate the cost of their cuppa to Macmillan in the process.

It was so effective, they repeated it the next year – only this time nationally. Since then, Coffee Morning has raised over £290 million for Macmillan.

West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper said:
“The Macmillan Coffee Mornings have become an integral fundraising effort but also a firm favourite as family, friends, neighbours and work colleagues take a time out to catch up over a cuppa and enjoy a biscuit or cake.

“The Coffee Morning is Macmillan’s biggest fundraising event to support people living with cancer, raising over £10m during last year’s event, a target they hope to top this year.

“Cancer affects so many of us so the support Macmillan offer to patients and families on their journey is vital.

“Anyone in West Lancashire can sign up to host a coffee morning with Macmillan sending out fundraising kits with various bits of merchandise, visit coffee.macmillan.org.uk to order yours now.
