Snape Green near Southport speed limit to be lowered after concerns raised by residents

Lancashire County Council have informed West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper that they will be changing the speed limit of Snape Green, Scarisbrick from 40 to 30mph. This comes after Rosie joined forces with concerned residents to pressure the council to make the road safer.

The MP and locals argued that the 40mph was completely unsuitable for the residential road, and that without a change in speed limit, someone was likely to get seriously hurt.

West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper said:
“This is a brilliant result for the residents of Snape Green. Anyone that has driven on the road would surely agree that 40mph was far too fast for such a narrow residential lane.

“There are families with young children living there that were justifiably worried that the speed of traffic could result in a terrible accident.

“I am grateful to Lancashire County Council for acting so quickly on these concerns and making my constituents safer.”
