Police incident Leyland Road in Southport

Officers from Merseyside Police have this morning cordoned off a section of Leyland Road between Lathom Road and the Promenade.

A plastic sheet has been placed over something in the middle of the road. An officer confirmed that it was not a body. A local resident said he thought there had been a burglary and that the sheet was covering the evidence.

Diversions are in operation as the area is a crime scene.
