Sefton Council have issued a statement over concerns of a CCTV camera in the changing rooms at Splash World in Southport.

A spokesperson for Sefton Council said: "We can understand people's concerns but would like to reassure them that this is a fixed view camera which monitors the public area around lockers.

"It is located to give the best coverage of the lockers to provide Splash World's visitors with added security for their belongings.

"This is an industry standard provision and similar CCTV systems are in operation across other leisure centres.

"The camera concerned does not move and cannot be used to view any other part of the changing village.

"We are sorry if this has caused any worries and we are happy to show proof of this to the family who expressed concerns and invite them back to Splash World if they wish to do so."
