Southport 0 AFC Telford 0
Cam Mason’s heroics from the penalty spot saved Southport from losing back to back games after it finished level in a 0-0 draw at Haig Avenue
The first half started off slowly with no real chances for either side until the 12th minute where a ball through Southport’s defence saw Byron Moore one on one with Cam Mason and after calmly taking it around the keeper he had taken the ball too wide seeing his shot go into the side netting.
Very little happened after that with the only real opportunity for Southport coming in the 34th minute as Archer brings down the ball on the corner of the box, shifts it onto his right foot but narrowly drags his shot wide of the left corner.
Going into the break 0-0 after a lacklustre first half something had to change but the second half started in the same manner seeing the only talking point being a composed last ditch tackle in the 55th minute by Anson who stopped a promising Telford counter attack.
However the game livened up in the last 15 minutes seeing a promising move for Telford end up in a penalty after substitute Jack Doyle caught Byron Moore in the box, ex Port player Devarn Green stepped up but it was a comfortable save for Mason down to his left hand side who maintained his 100% save record from penalties this season.
The game finished 0-0 with the man of the match being Cam Mason with a few comfortable saves and then the penalty save seeing him take all the plaudits.
