Southport return home with a share of the spoils after an entertaining 1-1 draw at high flying Kidderminster Harriers.

Southport opened the scoring on 19 minutes when Malakai McKenzie put a deligtful ball across the box for Tom Moore to stab home at the back post.

Kidderminster levelled on 33 minutes in controversial fashion when George Pickford appeared to be impeded from a corner and most referees usually penalise any contact on the ‘keeper but not on this occasion and Charlie Cooper scrambled the ball home.

It was a stange game with both sides enjoying some good spells of posession and showing attacking intent but there wasn’t a lot of clear cut opportunities for either side, the best did fall to our hosts when Hemmings completely missed his kick for a tap in on goal.

Kidderminster were reduced to ten men when Davis was shown red after 86 minutes but there wasn’t enough time for Southport to take advantage of the extra player and it ended all square.

Attendance 2637 with 98 travelling Sandgrounders.
