A Wild-Goose Chase: False Report Prompts Southport Quads' Search Efforts

Southport quads paged to search for 3 missing children at Ainsdale. The quads dispatched from the lifeboat station but were stood down shortly before arriving on scene.

18:03 - Just a few minutes after our crew had left the lifeboat station following the previous tasking, they were called-out again to reports of people stuck in the mud near Southport Pier.

Our quads and UAS (drone) thoroughly searched between the Pier Channel, Weld Road and out to the tideline with nothing found.

After approximately two hours of searching, further information was obtained that the first informant was inland, and the call was deemed a hoax.

Also in attendance were HM Coastguard Southport, HM Coastguard Crosby, North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust, Merseyside Police and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service
