Thirty-five new constables have formally joined Lancashire Police after an attestation ceremony at the force headquarters in Hutton. The ninth Police Constable Entry Programme intake took its oath before senior officers and the Police and Crime Commissioner, receiving policing powers and pledging to serve with fairness, integrity and impartiality.

02 TransportQueensway Tunnel closed in both directions after off-road bike collision
The Queensway Tunnel is closed in both directions following a serious one-vehicle collision involving an off-road bike. Emergency services were called shortly before 1.05pm on 11 August, on the Birkenhead-to-Liverpool carriageway. Motorists are advised to avoid the tunnel and use an alternative River Mersey crossing while the incident is dealt with.

03 What's OnP-51 Mustang ‘Jersey Jerk’ to fly at Southport Air Show 2026
The Second World War-era aircraft Jersey Jerk will appear over Southport seafront on 29 and 30 August. The P-51D Mustang joins a programme featuring the Red Arrows, Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, RAF Tutor, Jet Pitts, Aerosuperbatics Wingwalkers, Strikemaster Display Team and Gazelle Squadron.

Police are appealing for information to locate 17-year-old Abdul Alnurjini, last seen on Lodge Lane on 9 August. He is described as around 5ft 10in, with shoulder-length dark brown hair and brown eyes, and was wearing a black tracksuit. He is known to visit Southport and other Merseyside locations. Call 999 with sightings.
