Beach users should remain alert to tides and unstable sand, while eclipse viewing must be indirect using approved methods. Barbecues, fires and camping are prohibited.

02 TransportMarine Drive to close for six days during Southport Airshow
Marine Drive will be closed from Wednesday 26 August through Monday 31 August, covering the period around Southport Airshow. Local traffic will be diverted along the Promenade. The airshow takes place on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 August, with thousands expected and the Red Arrows scheduled to perform.

04 Emergency ServicesWitnesses sought after one-vehicle crash inside Queensway Tunnel
Police are appealing for witnesses after a Sur-ron bike crashed inside the Queensway Tunnel on Tuesday 11 August. The rider, a Liverpool man in his 20s, remains critically ill in hospital. Investigators want to hear from anyone who saw the bike near the Birkenhead toll booths or travelling through the tunnel.

05 What's OnRed Devils parachute team to make Southport Flower Show debut
The Red Devils Parachute Display Team will perform at midday on Thursday 20 August, weather permitting, during the opening day of Southport Flower Show. Visitors can meet the parachutists afterwards. The four-day event at Victoria Park includes gardens, entertainment, family activities and appearances from guests including Anton Du Beke and Rob Rinder.

Families invited to enjoy final weeks of Dragonfly Festival at Martin Mere
Dragonfly Festival continues at WWT Martin Mere until 31 August, offering families guided spotting walks, pond dipping, outdoor games, science activities and circus skills during the bank holiday weekend. Most activities are included in admission, while some crafts, canoe safaris and boat tours carry additional charges or require advance booking.
