Southport Air Show preparations continue ahead of Saturday opening
Stalls are being set up along Marine Drive and beside Ocean Plaza, with car parks opening at 9am and event gates at 10am. Flying is scheduled from about noon to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday. Rain and heavy showers may affect displays, while the beach is wet and muddy.

Citizens Advice says three million smart meters are failing to deliver
Citizens Advice says 6.7 million households with smart meters regularly submit manual readings, while 1.2 million have not received accurate bills since installation. It is calling for stricter Ofgem rules and faster repairs, after smart-meter problems became the most common reason for energy-supplier complaints so far this year.

Liverpool John Lennon Airport drop-off charge will rise to £7
From Tuesday, September 1, Liverpool John Lennon Airport’s Express Drop Off and Pick Up charge will be £7 for up to 10 minutes. Black cab and private-hire passengers may see the cost passed on. A separate free car park allows stays of up to 20 minutes, followed by a short walk.
