daily

Detectives are appealing for witnesses and any footage of four men suspected of committing a burglary at Morrisons Daily, Marshside Road Southport.

On Monday 13 January at around 1am, four men entered the Morrisons Daily in Churchtown, Southport. After forcing entry to the rear door, they stole a significant quantity of cigarettes and cash.

No one was injured during the incident.

Police attended the property and are currently investigating through extensive CCTV and witness enquiries.

Neighbourhood Policing Inspector Graham Fisher said: “This was a very distressing experience for staff. They were left in shock after turning up for work to be faced with a scene of damage and destruction.

“I would urge anyone who saw four men acting suspiciously on Marshside Road to please contact us.

“Shop theft is not a victimless crime – it has a real impact on people who live and work in our communities, and anyone who thinks they are entitled to take things that others work hard to pay for should think again.

“We direct resources and officers to areas where businesses and the public tell us there are issues, this helps prevent crime and reassure shop workers and customers.”

“We encourage people to come forward if you know anything about the incident or someone selling the cigarettes which will help with our investigation.”
