Marine deservedly progress to the Liverpool Senior Cup Final with a 4-1 win against a lacklustre Southport side.

A night to forget for The Sandgrounders in front of a bumper 1604 fans and Southport could have no complaints about the result.

Marine opened the scoring in the 37th minute through a former Southport player Jordan Lussey penalty and could easily have gone in to the break with a greater advantage.

Southport created little and it was a bit of a surprise when the equaliser came against the run of play in the 74th minute when Niall Watson crossed for Tyler Walton to fire home.

The lead didn’t last long and Marine went back in front 60 seconds later when Louis Britton got the first of what was to be a hat-trick following up with further goals in the 83rd minute and 95th to complete a miserable night for the visitors.
