Police appeal after wanted man leaves custody outside Liverpool Magistrates’ Court
Merseyside Police are searching for Stephen Grzyb, 22, after he left prisoner transport staff outside Liverpool Magistrates’ Court on Saturday morning. He was being taken from Belle Vale custody suite and ran towards The Strand. Police advise anyone who sees him not to approach, but to call 999 immediately.

Action secured for clearer traffic warning after cars crash onto golf course
Sefton Council will install a larger stop sign at the Fleetwood Road and Hesketh Road junction after complaints about speeding, poor visibility and two cars crashing onto Hesketh Golf Club’s course. Trees blocking the previous give-way sign have been cut back, with councillors saying the change should improve safety.

Southport exhibition explores Sefton’s historic link with Mons
The Atkinson is displaying Marcel Gillis’s painting The Angels of Mons in an exhibition exploring the First World War legend and Sefton’s long-standing connection with Mons. Created with the Mons Memorial Museum, the free exhibition considers belief, hope and wartime storytelling, and continues until Saturday 17 October.

Duke Street Park in Formby gets new path and wildlife mural
Duke Street Park’s first improvement is complete, with a widened pedestrian path and a wildlife mural created by Formby High art students and artist Holly Bushnell. Planned additions include a nature trail, play equipment and upgraded CCTV. Funding comes from Section 106 money, councillors, Formby Parish Council and volunteers.

Axel Rudakubana charged with four offences over alleged HMP Belmarsh incidents
Axel Rudakubana, 19, has been charged over four alleged incidents at HMP Belmarsh between May and October 2025. The charges include two alleged assaults on emergency workers, attempted grievous bodily harm and possession of a weapon in prison. He is due before Westminster Magistrates’ Court by videolink on 11 September 2026.
